Artist Statement =]

In my digital photography portfolio you will be able to find all of my work I’ve completed through the year 2008-2009. I feel that this portfolio may not be the best, that through out the other classes there may be better but I honest could say that I’m really proud of mine. I think that I did an amazing job finishing all my assignments and making sure that they were also on the page. Its not that I doubt myself but honestly I’m absent too much and for me to have my whole portfolio completed is very important. Yet I feel that there a little bit of details I could have improved on, not just in taking pictures but also in photoshop.
I look back to the beginning of the school and everything I’ve learned and I think that my favorite technique would be taking pictures at an extreme angle. At first I didn’t really understand what was really expected for an extreme angle. I still remember that the picture it took was not even right. My model was the one in an extreme angle not the photographer, which was me. Only in the semester I could say I learned numerous of things from using ISO, METERING and SHUTTER SPEED, but I think that what I liked the most was working on my own to find a tutorial to do what I wanted. On my own I found tutorials for things I’ve never thought of creating, one of them was a thunderstorm which I really liked and used in my surrealism project.
I feel that I was most successful with taking pictures because not only do I enjoy taking them but now I actually know how to use a camera right. I’ve always been considered to be conceded but like I tell everyone it’s not that I’m conceded it’s just that I enjoy taking pictures =] I think that through out the whole and maybe my life what I have always struggled with is my creativity. We could say that during the course of the class I’ve learned to be a little more creative but not as much as I would like. My creativity will always be one of the things I would like to improve in. I think that it’s important not only in a digital photography but also in life. I think that you have to see the world in a different prospective in order to be a creative person. The only way I can be creative is in my writing and honestly I don’t know why but I just am like that and I hope it does improve.
I think that what has been my influence on continue in this class would be my interest in everything that has to do with this class. I know for a fact that if I didn’t like what is being taught in the class I won’t succeed. I think that my curiosity of wanting to know more about photography and photoshop allowed me to continue learning and improving. I think that I have seen improvement in every single aspect of photography and photoshop because when I came in I wasn’t good at taking pictures. The only pictures I could take good were the snapshots or the sooo called myspace pictures =] I’ve also seen a great improvement in my creativity because when I walked in the door to the digital photography class my creativity was the WORST!!
Honestly I could say that I have never enjoyed any other class all my four years in high school as much as I enjoyed this class. My interest of wanting to know more and improve in this just made me want to keep going. I’ve always been interested in knowing about photography and know that I do I just want to keep learning more and more. I could say the same thing about photoshop.

Personal Metaphor "Like The FLower I am needed Of Affection"

Like a Flower I Am Needed Of Affection

I chose that metaphor because I think that all the flowers around us are needed of affection and like the flower I am also needed of affection. At the beginning I had a different metaphor but as I went along with the project and I worked on it I changed the metaphor. I had a hard time figuring out how to say the metaphor I wanted to use. I knew the words but not how to put them together so that they would make sense. While reading an article on flowers I came to the idea that all the flowers are in need of much affection and attention…and I thought well if flowers are in need of a lot of affection so am I.

My final work turned out good. I struggled a lot on trying to make myself into a flower. I had the idea of how I wanted my image to look but yet I couldn't figure out how to do it. I looked for tutorials on how to do but I found nothing so I just started messing with what I knew in photoshop. My flower didn't turn out the best but it’s good. In the beginning of the project I had a whole different idea of what I was going to do. I stated on that idea but it wasn't the best so I took Miss Cook’s advice on making myself and the other image the main emphasis. Although I could have done more to make myself and only myself the main emphasis you can still tell what you are looking at..! =]
