In my digital photography portfolio you will be able to find all of my work I’ve completed through the year 2008-2009. I feel that this portfolio may not be the best, that through out the other classes there may be better but I honest could say that I’m really proud of mine. I think that I did an amazing job finishing all my assignments and making sure that they were also on the page. Its not that I doubt myself but honestly I’m absent too much and for me to have my whole portfolio completed is very important. Yet I feel that there a little bit of details I could have improved on, not just in taking pictures but also in photoshop.
I look back to the beginning of the school and everything I’ve learned and I think that my favorite technique would be taking pictures at an extreme angle. At first I didn’t really understand what was really expected for an extreme angle. I still remember that the picture it took was not even right. My model was the one in an extreme angle not the photographer, which was me. Only in the semester I could say I learned numerous of things from using ISO, METERING and SHUTTER SPEED, but I think that what I liked the most was working on my own to find a tutorial to do what I wanted. On my own I found tutorials for things I’ve never thought of creating, one of them was a thunderstorm which I really liked and used in my surrealism project.
I feel that I was most successful with taking pictures because not only do I enjoy taking them but now I actually know how to use a camera right. I’ve always been considered to be conceded but like I tell everyone it’s not that I’m conceded it’s just that I enjoy taking pictures =] I think that through out the whole and maybe my life what I have always struggled with is my creativity. We could say that during the course of the class I’ve learned to be a little more creative but not as much as I would like. My creativity will always be one of the things I would like to improve in. I think that it’s important not only in a digital photography but also in life. I think that you have to see the world in a different prospective in order to be a creative person. The only way I can be creative is in my writing and honestly I don’t know why but I just am like that and I hope it does improve.
I think that what has been my influence on continue in this class would be my interest in everything that has to do with this class. I know for a fact that if I didn’t like what is being taught in the class I won’t succeed. I think that my curiosity of wanting to know more about photography and photoshop allowed me to continue learning and improving. I think that I have seen improvement in every single aspect of photography and photoshop because when I came in I wasn’t good at taking pictures. The only pictures I could take good were the snapshots or the sooo called myspace pictures =] I’ve also seen a great improvement in my creativity because when I walked in the door to the digital photography class my creativity was the WORST!!
Honestly I could say that I have never enjoyed any other class all my four years in high school as much as I enjoyed this class. My interest of wanting to know more and improve in this just made me want to keep going. I’ve always been interested in knowing about photography and know that I do I just want to keep learning more and more. I could say the same thing about photoshop.

Personal Metaphor "Like The FLower I am needed Of Affection"
Like a Flower I Am Needed Of Affection
I chose that metaphor because I think that all the flowers around us are needed of affection and like the flower I am also needed of affection. At the beginning I had a different metaphor but as I went along with the project and I worked on it I changed the metaphor. I had a hard time figuring out how to say the metaphor I wanted to use. I knew the words but not how to put them together so that they would make sense. While reading an article on flowers I came to the idea that all the flowers are in need of much affection and attention…and I thought well if flowers are in need of a lot of affection so am I.
My final work turned out good. I struggled a lot on trying to make myself into a flower. I had the idea of how I wanted my image to look but yet I couldn't figure out how to do it. I looked for tutorials on how to do but I found nothing so I just started messing with what I knew in photoshop. My flower didn't turn out the best but it’s good. In the beginning of the project I had a whole different idea of what I was going to do. I stated on that idea but it wasn't the best so I took Miss Cook’s advice on making myself and the other image the main emphasis. Although I could have done more to make myself and only myself the main emphasis you can still tell what you are looking at..! =]

Shutter Speed

The setting for the picture perfect was ISO of 400 and shutter speed of 8 seconds. We chose those settings because we wanted to allow enough light in our picture so it would look as if it wasn't dark in the room. We managed to make the picture look like we wanted but it was a little dark maybe if we would of added more seconds to the shutter speed we would of gotten what we wanted. Shutter speed iin our picture interacted with ISO because we chose how fast we wanted it and it was the right speed. With aperature we didn't do anything in the S mode. In our other picture we were suppose to be creative with the light. We had trouble doing so until we thought of doing 2009 with the light of the phones. We chose 2009 because all the team members are graduating this year. In that picture we had our camera set to the ISO to 200 and the sutter speed was 10 seconds.

ISO: Film Speed

ISO refers to how sensitive to your camera is to light. Its film speed refering to how fast or slow the light goes into your camera. In an ISO of 50 the light that would go into your camera wouldn't be as fast as an ISO of 5000. In this project we were suppose to take pictures of our partners next to the christmas lights with the flash on and with different numbers of ISO. When we took the picture with the flash on you couldn't even tell that the lights were actually christmas lights and in the one's with the ISO you can see them clearly. I would choose to change my ISO depending on the light in the place were the picture is going to be taken. I would choose it over flash because it would show the actual colors of the picture. When using ISO you have to be careful with using too much ISO because your pictures can come out noisy...Fill in Flash Experiment

Fill in flash is when your camera flashes every time you take a picture whether its in the night, day or if it needs it or not. You would use fill in flash when your picture are a little too dark. You use it in order to add a little more light to your pictures. My photos are examples of this because i was placed in a dark spot and my background was really bright so we used the fill in flash i didn't come out so dark. In the other situation we used it was when my partner had a shadow over her and when we used the fill in flashed the shadow wasn't as dark and allowed us to see her face clearer.Metering

Light metering is basically the light goes into the camera. In this two pictures I took one was suppose to be real dark with just the computer monitor bright but it didn't turn out that way. My focus should have been on the monitor instead of my partner. Both my pictures the focus was on my partner. In the future I think this will help for when i need to add more light in my pictures.Wednesday, March 25, 2009
Surrealism: A Fallen Angel...

An angel should always fly up high in the sky; really high up to the point were no one or nothing can reach it. It should explore only its surroundings and only were she will be safe. No matter what curiosity always manages to get to any one and that includes angels. This angel has the biggest interest of exploring the world. She would much rather spend her time fly down low and discover the earth. Throughout all her angel life she has experienced numerous adventures but never anything like what she experienced one stormy night. It was late at night one day Dina, the angel had been exploring the earth since early in the morning. She spend all day sleeping in beautiful green gardens, swimming in the freshest river and ran free through the finest corn fields she had ever seen in her life. While running happily through that field she started to notice something really strange. She kept walking more into the field and to her astonishment the field just kept getting drier and dried. When she was in the middle of the long, dry, corn field the sky started to get cloudy then out of no where the clouds disappeared and the sky got dark like never before. She was surprised because never in her lifetime as an angel had she ever seen the sky that dark. Then out of no where a thunderstorm started she was frightened to be alone in the dry corn field. After hearing a tremendously loud stomp she started walking faster and faster without remembering that she was an angel with wings. Dina was so terrified by the loud sound that she ran so fast that you couldn’t even see her legs moving. Hiding in the dead corn field she was surprised by a huge apple. The apple seemed friendly and even introduced himself to Dina; he said his name was Gabriel. When he said Gabriel she quickly remembered the evil angel who had fallen from heaven but she soon thought of it as a coincidence. He wouldn’t dare came near her….would he…??? Gabriel the apple walked her through the field he was telling her his life story, which she thought was very interesting and reminded her of someone she couldn’t remember. They walked and walked for miles, then they came to the darkest part of the field and her told her he was going to get revenge on the person who had done horrible things to him. At that point he didn’t seem like such a good creature anymore. She wanted to get away but didn’t know how. Then it came to her she would fly away and he wouldn’t be ale to do anything about it. She flapped her wings hard but right when she was going to take off he grabbed her feet with his mouth. She cried for helped, yelled to everyone but no one could hear or help her. The he told he “Dina I promised I would get revenge and you’re the one I’m going to start with.”

Graduation Program!
After looking at everyone else i don't think my graduation program is bad but it isn't that good. I think that i could have used better graphics in the program maybe i could have been more creative with my images. The Pegasus was so common in all the other programs so it didn't really add much creativity to my program. I think that graphic design was much harder than i had thought because i couldn't figure out what pictures to use and were to place them. I think that the most important aspects of graphic design is knowing what is wanted in the design. You can't just place random things that don't even belong in the design. Honestly i think that the advice i would give you, Miss Cook is that you should help the students somehow be more creative. I don't know how you would do that but that will be for you to figure out :)ALternate Program: Si Se Puede
Honestly after looking at other students programs i don't think i did that bad. I really thought that everybody else was going to have a way better program than mine. I think what i could have done better is the font of the quote and were i had placed it. Maybe if the quote wasn't placed so slanted it would have looked much better. I think that through out the whole program i struggled, but i would have to say that i really struggled with the picture i was going to place in the program.

Effects!

Personally I liked the emphasis effect which made me look me important than enything else in the picture. I really liked that picture because i was standing out more. I think that the glow effect was really nice too because get this lighting everywere that makes the picture look really shiny. The cross process to me wasnt that much help in this picture maybe if a I would of done it a little lighter it would of looked better. Frames!

I like the picture were it looks like the sunlight is touching the frame. I think that picture was better because of the lighting in it. I think what makes these pictures look artistic is the lighting in them. In one of them i think the angle of the picture is what made it look really artistic maybe for the other one if the photographer would of been positioned at a different angle that picture would of came out looking more artistic.Wednesday, January 14, 2009
Balance: Asymmetrical and Symmetrical

Symmetrical balance is when something is divided down the middle into two equal parts. Asymmetrical balance is when something isn't equally divided but is equally balanced on both sides. I think that visual balance is important in art in order to make it have that artistic look that sometimes you can't obtain.
Group Collaboration

I think what I found to be more difficult when taking the group pictures was placing everyone in the correct position to make the picture look perfect. The only thing i would change would be maybe getting less of our lower body and more of our upper body in the color picture. In the black and white picture i don't think i would change anything. I think that both the group pictures came out awesome.
