Effects!

Personally I liked the emphasis effect which made me look me important than enything else in the picture. I really liked that picture because i was standing out more. I think that the glow effect was really nice too because get this lighting everywere that makes the picture look really shiny. The cross process to me wasnt that much help in this picture maybe if a I would of done it a little lighter it would of looked better.

Frames!

I like the picture were it looks like the sunlight is touching the frame. I think that picture was better because of the lighting in it. I think what makes these pictures look artistic is the lighting in them. In one of them i think the angle of the picture is what made it look really artistic maybe for the other one if the photographer would of been positioned at a different angle that picture would of came out looking more artistic.

Color!

I think th at my colo rshots are okay even though they could of been better. I think that one of them really has alot of color but i could of had a better position in the picture. I could of been a little more creative and it would of made the picture look much better.

Balance: Asymmetrical and Symmetrical

Symmetrical balance is when something is divided down the middle into two equal parts. Asymmetrical balance is when something isn't equally divided but is equally balanced on both sides. I think that visual balance is important in art in order to make it have that artistic look that sometimes you can't obtain.

Group Collaboration

I think what I found to be more difficult when taking the group pictures was placing everyone in the correct position to make the picture look perfect. The only thing i would change would be maybe getting less of our lower body and more of our upper body in the color picture. In the black and white picture i don't think i would change anything. I think that both the group pictures came out awesome.

Artist Statement

This is my portfolio for my digital photography class. Overall I think that my portfolio is very well organized with all the projects we were given to do. In the portfolio various things will be found such as pictures with our last project to the picture we took with the first compositional trick we were taught. I learned so many things that I hope I will improve through out the course of the class. Several things that I learned were a success but in some I struggled a little bit.
My portfolio might not be the best but I think that it is very well maintained. So far I have all the projects we were assigned. I feel that although some of my pictures are good I still could have done other things to them. There is always time to correct anything in my projects.
The pictures in my portfolio vary from not so good to very well taken pictures. I think that some of those pictures didn’t turn out as good as I expected but I will improve through out the class At some point in the class I really enjoyed taking picture although sometimes it was very frustrating or sometimes they didn’t come out exactly how I wanted them to come out. I think that my successful picture and favorite compositional trick is the macro. My picture was even displayed in the office which I found to be very interesting since I am not the best photographer there is.
In the beginning of the year I thought this class would really be an exciting experience even though I didn’t know much about taking pictures. So far into the school year I have improved tremendously in taking pictures. There are some amazing things you can learn with Photoshop that I have really used in my pictures. I think that in a way Photoshop was complicated but at the same time it was really exciting. I still have another whole semester to learn and improve many more things in Photoshop and learning how to take the best pictures I can. Right now I have improve a great amount but in the future I would personally love to improve with my creativity because I am one of the least creative people there is in my class.
There were so many things I learned that were incredible or at least to me they were. I have found this class and everything we have done with pictures and Photoshop to be super amazing. My portfolio looks nice with all my projects and is something I am very proud of.

Lyrics

The lyrics I choose for this project are "Silly of Me" by Deneice Williams"

Silly Of me to think that I could ever have you for my guy how I love you... how I want you...Silly of me to think that you could ever really want me too how I love you...You're just a lover out to score I know that I should be looking for more What could it be in you I see What could it be...Oh, Love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me Oh, Love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me Silly of me to think that you could ever know the things I do Are all done for you...only for you Silly of me to take the time to comb my hair and pour the wine And Know you're not there You're just a lover out to score And I know that I should be looking for more What could it be in you I see What could it be...Oh, Love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me Oh, Love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me Ooh, Silly of me to go around and brag about the love I found And say you're the best, well, I cant tell the rest and Foolish of me to tell them all that every night and day you call When you could care less You're just a lover out to score And I know that I should be looking for more What could it be in you I see What could it be...Oh, Love, oh, love, stop making a fool of me

I choose these lyrics because I can understand how the artist of the song feels and I’m pretty sure not just one woman feels like that. There are probably many more women that feel the same way. She finds the perfect way to express her feelings about guys through this song. The lyrics mean to me that guys just try to make fools of girls and that they like to play games. She says that she should be looking for more which is true every woman deserves better. The lyric made me feel the same way as the artists did in the song like a “fool”.

Social Issue

In this project about social issues in our community that affect us i choose teen pregnancy . The statement i choose to put on the picture was that some choices are made in permanent ink. To me that meant that you choose to have sexual intercourse with someone so you have the responsibility of taking care of the child that is gr owning in you. You choose since the beginning by doing what you did no matter how it happened you still did it, you should of thought about the consequences before conceiving that baby. In a way it also meant that just like permanent ink that baby, that you choose to conceive will always be in your life no matter what. So now you really have to think about everything you do or don't do because it isn't just about you anymore its also about the baby, so whatever you do or don't in the future will affect that baby.
This issue affects me personally because i have friends and relatives that are pregnant or already have a baby. Now my friends really have to think about all the choices they will be making during and after that pregnancy. They have to take responsibility for their actions.
My friends that already have the baby really struggle with life. They have to work and take care of the baby so they quit school. This affects me because they are my close friends and family. Its hurts me to see them struggle with something they could have prevented but now its to late so that's why their choice was made in permanent ink that will affect them through out life.

Haunted Chavez

Haunted Chavez is our first project that we work on alone maybe with some assistance from the teacher when we're in need.! In this project we had to find a setting in our school and make it seem haunted some way or another. We were told to choose a setting to which we have or had an experience with and in some way can relate to it. We were told to have a main character, which had to be placed in the rule of thirds in our picture. We were allowed to have as many extra character but we also had to be in the picture either as the main emphasis or an extra character. We had to put all that together plus apply the tutorials we were taught using photoshop.
In my picture my setting was the playground used for the preschoolers in the child development class. My main character is the ghost scary the little girl. By the slide is one of the triplets that fell from the slide, hit her head and is unconscious. The third triplet is really afraid of what is happening and is being hugged by her older sister to calm her down.
This was one of my classes last year so it came right away to my mind. My initial idea was something else. I had planned to use the same setting but make the composition a little different. I was going to place a zombie by the fence around the playground as if it was leaving after eating a little girl.
I think that the composition was the most difficult decision i had to make. I was really hard trying to figure out were to place everything in the picture and still making it look like they belonged there. Another difficult thing was trying to figure out if i wanted the zombie in there or if i was going to make a ghost.
I would honestly say that the composition was one of the hardest problems i had to figure out. It might not have turned out the best but it was OK. I worked the composition but it was really hard figuring it out. At the end i placed my characters in an OK position although it could of been better.
I think that i did very well on taking the pictures. I had some really good pictures i just didn't really place them in the correct spot. I think i made an awesome ghost that's how a ghost would look to me if i were to see one in real life.
Overall i think i did OK on the first project that i worked on without the giudence of the teacher. I could of done better though. I think that the composition was poor but the pictures were really good by themselves.

Critique: Parkeharrison's "Guardian"

A man stands the middle of a dark brown tree stomp. He can’t keep his balance due to those long stilts he is standing on. Sharp pointy tree barks surround the ground; in his face you see the fear. The tree branches of his broken wings allow you to think that he is trying to keep his balance and fly away from his fears that he can’t face. The man’s desperate face allows you to fell his fears. He is at the point were he is about to stumble into those prickly tree barks yet he manages to keep balance. The dimming light in the background is fading away slowly as time passes by while that man awaits his fatal destiny. This photograph vividly illustrates the fear of a man standing alone in the world without any one to help him face his fears. It tends to portray that the man some how is managing that fear but yet he still needs a little push to fly away with those broken wings.

Scary Expressions

I think that my zombie picture would terrifying for anyone to see. The picture is so horrible that i would be extremely frightened to see it face to face. It makes me think that if i were in front of this zombie i would be running so fast that you wouldn't even be able to see my dust. The zombie also makes me wonder if they really exist or they are all just made up.
My ghost picture really makes me wonder if ghost really exist. It makes me thinks of how when we go leave flowers and our respects to a relative that something might be behind me. It honestly now that i think about it i wouldn't go to a cemetery by myself. Now i think that if i were to go to a cemetery at night i would be scared to death. I would always have this picture in mind head, and i would keep on looking back just to make sure NO One is behind.
My scary face makes me think of how i would look in a movie. I think that i would be a really shocking character in a scary movie. It would also make me think that if my appearance was this shocking i wouldn't be able to look at anyone to their face . I would be scared to come out of my house looking like this, but yet i would like to see other people's expressions when they would see me.

The Scream-My Interpretation

The red bright sky gave the man feeling that something weird is happening but yet he didn’t know what it was. He ran across the bridge and saw something that he had never seen. The man terrified screams, he realized that he was alone without anyone to help him. He screams even louder and louder but just keeps on realizing that he is still alone without anyone around him. He runs and back and forth….at the end of the bridge the man stops…in shock he lets out the loudest cry ever. The screams increased by the minute but still no one was around to calm him down.

Creative Me

This project was an opportunity for us to put the tools we have learned to use. We were to take one of our portraits, and change it creatively using the following: selection tools, layers, adjustment layers, layer styles, blending options, paint brushes and opacity. I liked how I was able to change the opacity of the colors which allowed you to give color to an image but get you were still able to see through it. The tool i used the most and really liked was opacity, because i was able to see through objects in my image even when a darker color was added. Right now in Photoshop I'm feeling pretty confident not as confident as i should but its OK.

Adjustment Layers

In this exercise we learned about Adjustment layers. Adjustment layers allow you to add adjustments to your image on separate layers instead of directly to the image itself. This comes in handy during long complicated projects. In Photoshop every tool is specifically designed to help improve your photo. However, here we took some artistic liberties and explored adjustments creatively.

Self Portraits

For our Self-Portrait project we were to take three self-portraits. They were all to be in black and white, and they were all to capture a mood of some sort. We were also challenged to be as artistic as possible, and stay as far away from normal, cliche portraits that we see on personal pages etc. as possible. One had to use the rule of thirds as the base for the composition; One had to incorporate leading lines, and one had to be taken from a more extreme angle.

The difficulties to these pictures would be that I couldn't get the correct pose that wouldn't make the picture feel likes a "senior portrait". Another difficulty would be the getting the background to look good with the picture. My success was getting a good extreme angle since for me that was the hardest compositional trick. The picture that I think was the most successful would be my extreme angle picture because the photographer really got a good extreme angle. The picture was taken from the top of me. I think that the picture would of looked better if my face was seen a little more. What I would of done better in my pictures would be to find a different pose that isn't so predictable. Overall I felt that my pictures were okay. I think that if i would of done a different pose the pictures would of been better.

Contact Sheet

Overall I think that my contact sheet turned out turned out better than I expected. I think It turned out real good. What i did well was setting up the picture I think that what makes it look good. I think that taking better pictures would of made the contact sheet even better. Out of all of the composition tricks my macro picture depth of feel turned out the best. I enjoyed it the most too. me and my partner really got into looking for the perfect image to capture.

Compositional Trick #5-Croppping

Cropping is a trick that photographers do all the time, even if they don't realize it. Every time a photographer chooses to cut something out of his/her frame, before they snap the photo, that is in essence cropping. We also have learned tools on Photoshop that allow us to crop an image after we have taken it. When cropping in Photoshop it is possible to improve our composition or change it completely.

I change the structure to the image by cropping out part of the rail on the left side of the picture. I think this picture turned out better after being cropped than the original picture. There is two ways of using the crop tool. the first way we used was cutting a part of the picture which changed it. Then we cropped it to get overcrop which gives you a border around your picture.

Compositional Trick #4-Extreme Anlgles

Assuming that i would of succeded in taking this picture at an extreme angle I would of needed to be lsaying on the ground. If i would of being laying on the ground when i was taking the picture of my partner i would of got a picture and not so much of a snapshot. On this picture I liked how I was able to get different shades of grays. I think what i would of done better is placing my partner's hand in a different position, and placing myself at a different angle. I think that photography is taken at extreme angles in order to give the viewer a different feeling than if the emphasis was straight in the middle waving their hand and smiling. I would choose to do extreme angles so i can give the viewer a different feeling throught my picture and allow them to see the world another way that they are not use to.

Compositional Trick #3-Macro

The macro function on your camera allows you to look at objects in a different prospective. You see the objects much smaller. When using macro depth of feel is also created which makes you look deeper into the picture. When depth of feel is created the background blurs. Macro is good for when you want to get a closer look at your image but shouldn't be used all the time. My favorite picture of the flower that shows depth of feel. Its my favorite one because if allowed me to look at the flower from a different view.

Compositional Trick #2-Leading Lines

This would be another trick that have worked on. The leading lines lead you to your picture following to your emphasis. Some leading lines lead your eyes straight to your emphasis while other just pull your eyes deep into the picture. In this picture i used the rail and its shadow to lead the viewer's eyes to my emphasis, which was my partner.
